Hello
My name is Jason Boi
Jason was born in Kuching, Sarawak in 1982 and moved to Kuala Lumpur at the age of 6.
His first inspirations came from National Geographic magazines which his father has been collecting since the 1970’s. As a kid, Jason would spend time picking up these magazines and wander through its pages filled with magnificent images of the landscape, people and of wildlife. It was then, he had a dream to travel to strange lands and capture stunning images for National Geographic.
In the year 2001, Jason picked up his first camera. The Olympus OM2000. It was solely for a college photography project which he only used once and then was kept aside. Several years later in 2003, Jason signed up for a photography course, picking up proper skills using cameras in studios and outdoors, developing films and printing pictures. Upon graduating in the year 2005, Canon had just launched the powerful EOS 1D Mkii. The photography world was full tilt towards the digital future. Film, as far as he knows was obsolete.
Fast-forward to 2018, while Jason was cleaning out his room he found an old roll of exposed film in his camera bag. Curious and without a clue what was in it, Jason sent it to be developed anyway. Several days later he received an email from the developer and attached along with it are the scans of the film. It turns out to be shots of a day trip to Pulau Ketam back when he was studying photography in 2005.
This then rekindled his love for photography.
